The other day I found myself triggered. Properly frustrated and out of sorts. It's not my usual state, so it caught my attention.
I was stuck in a long queue. The volunteers running it were sweet but very unprepared. As the minutes dragged on, my frustration bubbled over. Grumpy, irritable, and way more annoyed than the situation warranted.
So I asked myself: what's this really about?
The answer? My childhood. My dad hated queues. He'd make us stand in separate lines, racing to see who could get to the front first, so we wouldn't have to deal with his frustration.
For little me, queues became a high-stakes game. Keep Dad happy, or face the fallout.
Fast forward to now, and even though Dad's no longer around, that little girl in me still feels the pressure to "fix" the situation.
Are queues life-or-death situations? Obviously not. But the emotional response from back then felt very real.
That's how you spot an old pattern. The feeling is far bigger than what's in front of you.
Here's what I did to help:
Next time I'm in a queue, I'll check in and see how it feels. If anything's still lingering, I'll repeat the above.
Getting triggered isn't fun. It's also an opportunity. Every time it happens, it points to something we can heal.
That's where the magic lies. Turning an old pattern into calm and freedom.
If you're feeling stuck with your own triggers, I'd love to help. You don't have to do it alone. See how healing sessions work.
You've done the healing and the job, relationship or business is still getting harder. Is there more to heal, or is it time to go? How to tell.
A look at beliefs ... do you procrastinate because of the fear of failure OR success? Are you hiding your awesomeness ...
A story from a family reunited. "Mum asked me to contact you to let you know how truly grateful she is..."
